Game 5: Winnipeg Jets vs Edmonton Oilers pre-game report

A look at the projected lineup with all the latest game info.

The Jets and Oilers are both feeling a little snarly having started the season with a less than optimal 1-3-0 record. With two big points on the line both clubs are going to want to put their best skate forward this evening in Edmonton.

Skate news:

Starts at 12:30 AM CDT. For now the projected lines and D pairs are based on Thursday’s game simply because the team didn’t skate on Friday. They did recall forward Dominic Toninato from the Moose on Friday as they deal with Gabe Vilardi being out of the lineup for the next 4-6 weeks.

We shall have to see if Rick Bowness will make a move to insert Toninato into the lineup. Whether he continues to healthy scratch Nate Schmidt. If he’s ready to give Declan Chisholm a shot.

Skate news:

As per radio colour broadcaster for the Jets Mitchell Clinton the forward lines remain the same while Nate Schdmit does in fact return to the lineup. Mitch also indicated that Connor Hellebuyck went through his starting routine.

Jets projected lines & D pairs:

Connor-Scheifele-Appleton
Perfetti-Namestnikov-Ehlers
Iafallo-Lowry-Niederreiter
Barron-Kupari-Gustafsson

Morrissey-DeMelo
Dillon-Pionk
Samberg-Schmidt

Hellebuyck
Brossoit

Betway Odds:

Despite the fact that these teams have identical winning percentages of an anemic .250 and despite the fact that both these clubs sit with a rather putrid goal differential of minus six the experts see the Oilers as the favourites in this contest.
