After winning five straight and nine of their last 10 prior to tonight the Jets drop the first game of the road trip 4-1 to the LA Kings and fall to 22-10-2 on the season.

– An unusual period. Felt like Jets controlled but Kings got one that Connor Hellebuyck would definitely like to have back
– Kings led 1-0 after 20 with the Jets holding a 11-10 shot edge.
2nd:
– Mathieu Perreault tied up the game less than two minutes into the middle frame with a nifty redirection;
– Kings appeared to take the lead on the PP but coach Maurice challenged for offside (ruled no goal);
– Shortly thereafter the Kings got the go ahead goal after Kopitar made a nice move to set it up;
– Jets almost tied it but it was LA extending their lead courtesy of Austin Wagner’s second goal of the game;
– Kings led 3-1 after 40 with the Kings taking the shot edge 12-9 and took the shot lead 22-20.
3rd:
– The Jets couldn’t really generate much of anything in the final frame;
– They had a late PP opportunity and didn’t even get a shot on net;
– Kings Nate Thompson added an empty netter to stick a fork in this one;
– Kings win 4-1. In that period LA outshot Winnipeg 9-8 and overall 31-28.
Notable:
– Mathieu Perreault scored for the fifth straight game;
– Games 1-29 for Perreault (3 goals) vs games 30-34 (5 goals);
– Blake Wheeler, Mark Scheifele, Dustin Byfuglien and Patrik Laine had five-game points streaks come to an end.
