You knew it wasn’t gonna be pretty when the Jets announced that Josh Morrissey was gonna be a late scratch due to an upper-body injury sustained during pre-game warm up skate. In came waiver wire acquisition Carl Dahlstrom who really didn’t have much time to practice with his new teammates.
The Jets had a good opening period outshooting the Islanders 15-9 but couldn’t solve Thomas Greiss. The Islanders scored twice early in the 2nd and then continued to pour on the pressure. They added another before Patrik Laine, who was switched to the top line, scored his first goal of the season. Despite Laurent Brossoit doing everything possible to keep his team in it the Jets allowed another goal and that’s how it would end with New York winning it 4-1.

Coach Maurice: Status update on Josh Morrissey. His thoughts on Carl Dahlstrom’s debut. More on how Morrissey got injured. What did he think of Brossoit’s game tonight? Any theory on why Brossoit is good in high volume games? On the opening period and what switched in the middle frame. Did he like the switches he made? How the defensive group has handled themselves.
