Game 28: Winnipeg Jets vs Edmonton Oilers pre-game report

A look at the projected lineups and pre-game interviews.

The Jets finally, finally got scoring from a line that wasn’t Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor and Gabriel Vilardi in a victory although not surprisingly that line still managed to score half the goals in the Winnipeg victory last night over Buffalo. It seems likely that head coach Scott Arniel will ride a similar lineup in tonight’s back-to-back against the Oilers.

Edmonton finally got a big win as they took down Seattle 9-4 in their last game. They are on a similar trajectory as their opponent with both teams having gone 4-5-1 in their last ten games.

Odds:

The Jets roll into Edmonton for the second half of their back-to-back after finally getting secondary scoring in a win at home last night, now looking to keep that momentum alive on the road. Edmonton arrives with a touch more swagger after erupting for a 9–4 victory in their previous outing. While the Oilers carry an expectation of control on home ice, the Jets’ challenge will be managing the quick turnaround and finding enough energy to counter Edmonton’s firepower. With the schedule placing both teams in similar situations, the game may come down to whether Winnipeg can steady themselves after travel or if the Oilers can quietly assert the edge many expect of them.
