No Byfuglien. No Morrissey. No problem. Jets score twice in 22 seconds in the 3rd and add an empty netter to beat the Islanders 3-1. Sweep this three game east coast road trip taking all six points, improving to 17-8-2 on season.

Coach Maurice:  His thoughts on tonight’s win over the Islanders.  Thoughts on what the guys did on the back end.  What is the status of Josh Morrissey?  On the Jets play in the 3rd period.  Happy with the way Hellebuyck played? On the night/weekend that Jacob Trouba had.  Big boost from Lowry’s line getting a goal.  On using the Lowry line post power play.  On being able to play in front of a good home crowd.

Health update:

Coach Maurice says post-game that Josh Morrissey is day-to-day, said he was close to playing but sounds like they didn’t want to take a chance with it becoming more significant. Added “I think we’re gonna get real healthy here on our blueline in the next few days”.

Up next:

The Jets are off on Wednesday and are scheduled to return for practice on Thursday at 11 am at Bell MTS Place.  They take on the St. Louis Blues here in Winnipeg on Friday night which gives off four straight at home and five of the next six games at the Friendly (for the home side) confines of the downtown rink.
