The Jets kick off a four game road trip in Detroit tonight as they look for a win to get things started right before a rematch with the Maple Leafs tomorrow night in Toronto. Of course for Winnipeg, while it may be tempting to look past the Red Wings who have struggled out of the gate with just one win in nine games, this is the NHL and you can ill afford to take any opponent too lightly.
AM Skate notes:
As per Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press the lines and D pairs are the same as what we saw at the end of the Leafs game with Ehlers/Laine flipping lines. Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun indicated that Joe Morrow was out early warming up Laurent Brossoit so it looks like he may get the start tonight.
Jets projected lines, D pairs and starting goalie:
Ehlers-Scheifele-Wheeler
Connor-Little-Laine
Copp-Lowry-Tanev
Lemieux-Roslovic-Perreault
Morrissey-Trouba
Chiarot-Byfuglien
Kulikov-Myers
Brossoit
Hellebuyck
Audio:
Jacob Trouba
Nikolaj Ehlers
Coach Maurice: Why does tonight make sense for Brossoit? With Hellebuyck being from Michigan did that factor in? Lineup for Detroit. Changes to the configuration of the top 6? On Kyle Connor’s speed creating opportunities for Patrik Laine. How does he keep the team focused on the Red Wings and not looking ahead to the next game? On Trouba’s development. Will they take additional players for the trip to Finland? How is Nic Petan coming along? Might tomorrow be an option for Petan? On the four Michigan guys on the team. His connection to Michigan.
