The Jets looked to be in tough tonight against the Capitals spotting Washington a three goal lead after 40 minutes. Eventually Winnipeg whittled that lead down scoring the equalizer off the stick of recently called up Mark Dano at the 11:11 mark of the final frame. A too many men penalty in OT cost the Jets as Alexander Ovechkin put it home to win it for Washington 4-3. Jets now head to Detroit to finish off this back to back in Michigan before continuing on to New York New York.
Interesting stat from Chris Curry of the TSN 1290 radio family: This season the Jets have come back from multi goal deficits in the 3rd 4 times already in just 11 games. In the previous four seasons they have a total of 4. If you go back all the way to when they returned 5 seasons ago they have 7.
Player post-game audio:
Blake Wheeler: Slow starts? Felt after the 2nd period like the team could still win? How difficult was that OT?
Michael Hutchinson: Goal against in OT. Jets ability to come back. How did he feel about his game?
Coach post-game audio:
Paul Maurice: Assessing the game. Pattern forming with Jets falling behind? His thoughts on Hutchinson? On Lowry’s game. Getting production from Dano and Copp. Update on Perreault and Armia. His thoughts on the too many men penalty in OT?
