Former Winnipeg Jets winger Nikolaj Ehlers signs six-year deal with Carolina

It’s been a question mark for some time around these parts as folks have wanted to know since the 2023-24 season concluded what was going to happen with Nikolaj Ehlers who was entering the final year of his deal in Winnipeg. It was a question he was asked periodically during the 2024-25 campaign but he was always tight-lipped in his response.

We now know it’s no longer hanging up his equipment in his locker in Winnipeg.

While the Jets discussed making him a “Jet for life” that is no longer an option as the Dynamic Dane has signed a six-year deal with the Hurricanes as a UFA with a cap hit of 8.5 million.

The 2014 1st rounder of Winnipeg dazzled fans for the last decade finishing his Jets career with 225 goals 295 assists for 520 points in 674 regular season games. He also had nine goals 12 assists for 21 points in 45 playoff games.

He finished 4th on the All-Time games played list, 4th for goals, 4th for assists, 4th for total points, 4th for game-winning goals
