The Jets selected Eric Comrie in the second round of the 2013 Draft. He did do some musical chairs when he was picked off waivers by a few teams (Detroit & New Jersey) before ultimately returning to Winnipeg by a waiver claim.
He signed in Buffalo as a free agent for the 2022-23 season and after a few years there he returned to Winnipeg as a free agent.

He has a strong relationship with Jets current starter Connor Hellebuyck. The two have been teammates in Winnipeg for three full seasons and have been part of the organization together since their early days as prospects.
While last season was a difficult one for much of the team, Comrie appeared in a career-high number of NHL games while filling in during Hellebuyck’s injury absence.
At first glance, a goals-against average above 3.00 and a save percentage below .900 may raise questions about the value of the signing. However, his goals saved above expected rating of +2.2 paints a more favorable picture. While that mark falls below his previous Winnipeg averages, it remains a respectable number that placed him in the upper half of NHL backups who played a similarly limited workload.
However, with the questions surrounding Hellebuyck’s status and with the Jets signing Stuart Skinner it was clear that Comrie was no longer in the plans for Winnipeg.
He signed a two-year deal with the Sharks at 1.15 million AAV.
