Back on August 2nd, 2022 the Jets signed veteran forward Sam Gagner to a one-year deal. The 14-year vet was coming off a 13 goals and 18 assists in 81 game season with the Red Wings. He set a significant milestone playing in game 1000 during his time in Winnipeg back on December 29th in a game against the Canucks.
He had eight goals and six assists for 14 points in his 48 games in a Jets jersey but he required hip surgery and was declared done for the season in March.
When the 2022-23 season concluded Gagner was nominated as the Jets Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy nominee.
Thenow 15-year vet with 1015 NHL games under his belt isn’t returning to the Jets but instead is showing that you can go home again, again! And in this case I should have added another again because this will be his third stint with the team that drafted him sixth overall back in 2007. The Oilers announced that they have signed Gagner to a PTO.
