Former Winnipeg Jets forward Jansen Harkins claimed off waivers by Penguins

The Jets put five players on waivers on Sunday including Jansen Harkins who just can’t seem to crack the lineup on a regular basis. Last season he passed through waivers twice, which was good for the Moose as he put up 50 points (25G 25A) in 44 games for Manitoba. He had two goals in the current pre-season for Winnipeg.

Had he cleared his return to the AHL it would have been good for the Moose as he would have provided some real top end scoring for a club that is going to be very young.

Instead the 2015 2nd rounder was claimed by the Penguins and will have a chance to be an impact player for an NHL club.

For those of you getting to know the BC product for the first time here is an article I wrote a few years ago about the perseverance of Harkins as he fought his way into the NHL.
