The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is given “to the National Hockey League player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.”
The Winnipeg chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association nominated Eric Comrie as the nominee for the pro club in Peg’ city.
It has been another unusual year for goalie Eric Comrie. After last year spending time with Arizona and Detroit he was reclaimed by the Jets and finished the season with the Moose. This year that theme continued as he was claimed by the Devils, won a game with them and then was reclaimed by Winnipeg when New Jersey put him on waivers.
Comrie has spent more time in quarantine than most this season but once he got out he has spent time with the Jets taxi squad as well as getting into three games for the Moose, going 3-0-1-0 in and one of those wins moved him into first spot on the all-times wins list for the Manitoba franchise.
He’s gotta be one of the most well liked players this organization has ever drafted. For insight into Comrie read this article by Daniel Fink who spoke to a number of people (including yours truly) about the affable netminder.
