Eric Comrie backstops the Winnipeg Jets to 3-2 win over the Blues to complete weekend sweep

Recap of the game.

The Jets sweep their back-to-back set this weekend with today’s 3-2 win over the Blues. Eric Comrie was excellent making 29 saves on 31 shots. Mark Scheifele & Kyle Connor get their 31st while Haydn Fleury got his first ever with Winnipeg.

Notable:

While it took awhile for Haydn Fleury to score his first goal as a member of the Jets, but how random is the fact that it comes against the team and goalie that he scored his last goal (back on March 13th, 2023) against.

Mark Scheifele celebrated his 33rd birthday with his 31st goal of the season to make it a 2-0 lead for the Jets.

Even after a few games I am still not used to seeing a 27 in a Jets jerseys executing what Dennis Beyak would call “tight turns”.

Kyle Connor obviously didn’t want Scheifele to be alone atop the goal scoring for Winnipeg as he tied him with 31 scoring an absolute beauty on the breakaway after a great pass by Morgan Barron who set a new career high for points with 22. It also gave Connor 62 game-winning goals which puts him three back of Scheifele for the all-time team lead.

Five straight wins for Eric Comrie who set a new career high for games played in a season with 21 and a new career high for wins with his 11th.

Multi Point Game:

Haydn Fleury 1G 1A
Morgan Barron 2A
