From Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun:

“Once the series between the Red Wings and Penguins ends, the clock will start ticking on his career with the Senators as GM Bryan Murray has the option of buying out Emery within 48 hours after the final ends.”

Here is the full article from the Ottawa Sun.

Garrioch mentions the slight possibility of a trade, however, I don’t see any team making a deal for a player that they could sign without compensation only a few days later. Make no mistake, if the Senators cannot deal Emery before the Finals are over, he will almost certainly be bought-out within 48 hours.
