Since the Jets season came to an end and really all year long the big question mark in this market has been surrounding the status of Jets UFA Nikolaj Ehlers who can choose to sign wherever he’d like on Tuesday, July 1st.

While it isn’t particularly surprising news, we did get an update from hockey insider Elliotte Friedman who tweeted this about the Dynamic Dane:
“Hearing Nikolaj Ehlers has informed the Jets he will go to free agency on July 1 Door not closed on Manitoba, but will test the market”.
Of course we heard earlier today in advance of the NHL Draft from Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff who, when asked about Ehlers, had this to say:
“We’ll continue to have conversations until we can’t”
It will be interesting to see if this motivates the Jets to try to move him for a draft pick or attempt a sign and trade with a team of Ehlers choosing. Or maybe it’s a ploy by Ehlers camp to motivate Winnipeg.
Keep it locked here for all the latest news.
