Ducks fly past grounded Jets 4–1, Winnipeg’s losing streak grows to three

Recap of the game.

The “Trip of Death” through California continued to haunt the Jets, who dropped their third straight game to a Golden State opponent. Winnipeg fell to 9-6-0 on the season with the 4–1 loss in Anaheim.

Notable:

With the Ducks having played (and won) last night you expected them to try to get off to a good start in this one and they did with an early chance on Eric Comrie who got his fourth start of the season.

The Jets gave up four 2 on 1s in the first 7 minutes of the 1st period and they were trailing 1-0. They’d give up a power play goal with 57 seconds left in the opening period which meant they were trailing 2-0 after 20.

Which meant they had one goal in their last seven periods of hockey. They remain the top team in the NHL for keeping the puck out of their net thanks to excellent goaltending. But the scoring has dried up. 17th overall right now. PP cannot buy a goal. That’s a BIG problem.

It looked like things were gonna be better for the visitors in the middle frame as Kyle Connor ripped home this shot to give him nine goals on the season and 600 points in his career.

Watch the replay of the third Ducks goal against. How many mistakes by the Jets can you count?

And then to add insult to injury seconds after going down by two the Jets gave up an odd man rush.

Winnipeg found themselves down 3-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Would the visitors be able to take advantage of a (allegedly) tired home team which played on the road last night in the final frame? The answer was no as Anaheim came out flying, drawing a power play and scoring another goal against the Winnipeg penalty kill to make it a 4-1 game.

That Jets PP dropping like a stone 1 for their last 17. From Top 3 to middle of the pack

Multi Point Game:

None.
