Stan Fischler chimes in with an article posted over at Max Hockey (fantastic site by the way, if you ever run out of stuff to read at IC, I highly recommend it) where he discusses the trend of linesmen letting fights go on too long.
“Once upon a time linesmen made it their business to break up fights in a REASONABLE amount of time.
Not any more.
It’s as if the new breed of linesmen don’t want to get their hands dirty.
They seem to want a fight to the finish — or at least the zebras appear quite willing to allow the punches, grappling and sweater-tugging to last until Midnight.
Too many times The Maven has witnessed fisticuffs in which the combatants themselves virtually plead — with eye contact — for a halt but their urgent requests are denied.”
