All we’ve heard for the last little while is how amicable things are between the Winnipeg Jets and unsigned RFA Cole Perfetti as the two sides worked to come to an agreement on the next contract for the 2020 10th overall selection. So much so that Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast said someone called it “the nicest contract dispute ever“.
That was then and this is now.
Perfetti had been listed as one of the 53 players on the roster for training camp which was scheduled to get underway today at the hockey for all centre. He was part of Team Neufeld which got on the ice at 10 AM.
However Perfetti is not on the ice with his teammates which is where he’s been since arriving in Winnipeg.
What makes the situation even more unusual is that Perfetti has been a good soldier for the organization representing them on the NHL Media Tour in Vegas last week and reportedly at a fishing charity event.
We shall have to wait and see when the two sides can finally hammer out the final details on a new contract (likely a two-year bridge).
