Coach Maurice says Blake Wheeler out for Stars game with lower body injury

Coach Maurice confirmed in his pre-game media scrum today that Jets 1st line winger Blake Wheeler won’t play tonight against the Stars due to a lower body injury.  Wheeler had left the Capitals game briefly on Thursday night after he took a slap shot to the leg. He returned later that game but he didn’t look the same.  He did play in the game Saturday night in Toronto but didn’t look like he was skating at 100%.  This will be the first game he has missed this season.

Coach Maurice didn’t confirm how long he would be missing from the Jets lineup but fans have to be hoping it isn’t more than one game. Even that may be too many for a team that needs all hands on deck in their push for the playoffs.
