From Steve Conroy of the Boston Globe:

It was also reported on TSN that the B’s were one of a few Eastern
Conference teams, including the Montreal Canadiens and Senators, who received
permission to speak to another soon-to-be unrestricted free agent prior to July
1, the San Jose Sharks’ Brian Campbell.

The defenseman could land a deal in the $6 million-$7 million annual range.
Chiarelli would neither confirm nor deny the Campbell report.

It looks like Campbell won’t be lacking suitors come July 1. As many as 7-8 teams have been rumored to have serious interest in the defenseman. Expect the former Ottawa 67 to get at least $7 million average per season.
