Blogs to take a look at

Each and every morning I link all the NHL relevant stories from newspapers from across North America, but today I figure I’d list some blogs that I frequently check out and I think you should too.

  • Empty Netters. Seth Rorabaugh runs this blog off the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette website and he does a terrific job. The site is focused mainly on everything Penguins but it also has a lot of other NHL content.
  • Sweatsox. John MacKinnon is a writer for the Edmonton Journal and runs this insightful blog off the Journal website. The blog focuses mainly on hockey (particularly Oilers hockey) but branches out to other sports as well.
  • The Forechecker. Dirk Hoag runs this blog which focuses much of its attention on bringing statistical analysis to the hockey world. Hoag is based out of Nashville and is as knowledgeable as anyone when it comes to Predators information.
  • Taking Note. This blog is run Greg Drinnan, a veteran of the sportswriting business for over 30 years. This is one of the best blogs out there for WHL information.
  • Russo’s Rants. Michael Russo writes this blog for the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune website. Russo, for my money, is one of the best NHL beat writers in the business. His blog provides readers with everything they need to know about the Minnesota Wild.
  • NHL Arena Program. This blog is run by Chris Wassel and covers just about everything possible regarding the NHL. Check it out because you won’t run out of things to read.

For Illegal Curve, I’m Richard Pollock.
