From Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times:
Bill Barber, who resigned as the Lightning’s player personnel director, said he was tired of the travel and wants to spend more time with his family.
“It was a tough year personally in the sense of travel,” Barber said of the 2007-08 season. “I’ve covered so much hockey the past 24 years, I think it finally caught up to me in the sense you get caught up in the business side and you lose sight of the things that are really important, and that would be family.”

Sometimes people forget just how much travel there is in the NHL. There is a lot of time away from your family and it looks like Barber would prefer to spend time close to home with the people that are important to him.
The Lightning have decided to replace Barber with former agent Brian Lawton.
