From Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe:

Prior to departing the Garden for their charter flight to St. Louis (for a game there tomorrow night), the Bruins offered little update regarding Patrice Bergeron, felled in a collision with Dennis Seidenberg near the middle of the second period of Boston’s 4-2 win over the Canes.

Coach Claude Julien, in his post-game comments, went only so far as to say Bergeron was ”dazed” in his collision with the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Seidenberg. However, Julien did not specifically answer whether Bergerson sustained a concussion.

According to Julien, the club will release a statement once the doctors have evaluated him.

”We’ll get that out to you guys,” Julien told the media, ”and get it to you….clear and precise.”

Not good news.  Bergeron was out for 70+ games last season after Randy Jones hit him from behind into the boards.  Dupont states that Bergeron was going to the hospital for further tests. To be honest, I think Bergeron could miss a lot of time here.  Considering the severity of his concussion last season and his reaction to this collision, the Bruins will most likely be very, very careful in deciding when he should return to the lineup.  I’m no doctor, but if I had to guess, I’d say the young center will probably miss at least a month of action.  That said, I sure hope it’s less and that he’ll be alright.
