BC product Thomas Milic posts back-to-back shutouts as he leads his Manitoba Moose to 4-0 win over Canucks

After going on the road for three games, returning home for a pair (which they swept vs Marlies) the Moose find themselves back on the road. This time they are out west starting a four game road trip in Abbotsford against the defending Calder Cup champs. However these Canucks are a far cry from the ones from last season. These guys are sitting in dead last in the Pacific.

Lineup news:

Still no David Gustafsson who missed his fifth straight game with injury. Thomas Milic, after posting a 1-0 shutout on Sunday, would get the net again today. Fabian Wagner came in for Tyson Empey.

Moose lineup:

JAD-Zhilkin-Chibrikov
Shaw-Ford-Di Giuseppe
Fagemo-Yager-Duehr
Barlow-Julien-Wagner

Sautner-Bauer
Anhorn-Phillips
Clague-Barteaux

Milic

Notable:

Not saying the farm team was emulating their parent club but the Moose started the game being outshot 9-1 by the Canucks. Abbotsford had two power plays in the opening period. Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic kept making all the stops for Manitoba (which was a them that would continue all night long).

Walker Duehr with the alley-oop pass to Jets prospect Brayden Yager who goes in on a 2 on 1 with Samuel Fagemo. The Saskatoon product eventually gets the puck over and the Swedish winger takes the team goal lead with his 15th to make it 1-0 for the Moose.

Back-to-back games with a goal for Parker Ford as his sixth of the season provides some insurance for the Moose making it a 2-0 game. He’s riding a four game points streak (2G 2A).

The Moose didn’t sit back after taking a two goal lead. Instead they continued to try to add to their lead in the middle frame. Jets prospect Nikita Chibrikov rang this one off the crossbar.

Tyrel Bauer, gets the Illegal Curve bump (almost) with a great chance for his second goal of the season but he gets robbed.

After missing out on the breakaway earlier in the game, Nikita Chibrikov would not be denied scoring a goal on the power play for the Moose (which is a rare feat) to make it a 3-0 game. It was his fourth goal of the campaign.

Isaak Phillips is hot scoring his fourth goal in the last eight games for the Moose (7th of season) as he put the cherry on top making it 4-0. Jets prospects Fabrian Wagner (first assist of season) & Jacob Julien with apples. Honourable mention to Dylan Anhorn who starts play.

Big performance for Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic as he leads Moose to a 4-0 win in his home province. Gives him back-to-back shutouts in consecutive games. First to do it since Mikhail Berdin in 2019-20.

Manitoba wins third straight which improves their record to 27-19-5-1 which gives them 60 points. They are currently making up ground as they have played the least number of games in the Central. This gives them a two point edge over the Stars who are in 4th with two games in hand.

Multi-point game:

Isaak Phillips 1G 1A
Brayden Yager 2A
