Afternoon Delight: Slow Starters

  • David Staples of the Edmonton Journal previews tonight’s Oilers-Ducks matchup, with Steve MacIntyre versus George Parros as the main attraction. The Ducks were beat up last night and will be in no mood to give up two points to the Oilers. Interesting to see how MacIntyre fares in his first game as Oilers enforcer. I wonder if Parros will even be game tonight, having fought against the Kings in Tuesday’s tilt?
  • Spector discusses the poor starts that some NHL teams have endured thus far. While no ones wants to put themselves in a hole early, being 0-2 isn’t exactly a death sentence. Lots of hockey to played still.
  • Battle of California has some interesting photos from the Sharks-Jackets game as well as their thoughts on the Kings thus far. B of C always provides good insight to the left coast teams.
  • Daryl Reaugh plays good cop/bad cop with the Dallas Stars slow start to the season. Reaugh is always good for a laugh, and he doesn’t disappoint here.
  • Puck That Hit dishes on Daniel Alfredsson’s return and the Hurricanes new black sweaters. While I think the ‘Canes sweaters are esthetically pleasing, I could do without every team having black as a primary or alternate colour. Lets get some flavour out there.
  • Inside College Hockey ranks the NCAA teams. No surprise to see Boston College at the top of the heap. Their skill and up-tempo game exposed the WCHA in last years Frozen Four for the clutch and grab league it has become. Having St. Cloud ranked higher than the Gophers ought to provide some interesting water cooler discussion along I-94.
