The special teams were the difference last night as the Admirals went 3/4 on their power play chances on their way to winning 4-2. Tonight the Moose were looking to earn a split.
Lineup news:
No Chaz Lucius as he continues his pattern of not playing in back-to-back games. Fellow Jets prospects Danny Zhilkin and Elias Salomonsson also not playing tnt. Tyrel Bauer back in the lineup after being a late scratch in game three of the season in Grand Rapids with a back issue.
Moose lineup:
Suess-Toninato-Ford
Shaw-King-Chibrikov
Conley-Lambert-AJF
Liwiski-Nikkanen-Torgersson
Sautner – Lundmark
Kuzmin – Barteaux
Zloty – Bauer
DiVincentiis
Notable:
Domenic DiVincentiis was tested early as the Admirals got this shorthanded chance but the prospect netminder was up to the task.
His first game back after dealing with a back issue for the last few weeks and for the third time Tyrel Bauer and Kyle Marino had themselves a tilt. They fought twice last season when Marino was with the Wolves.
Both teams had goals disallowed. The first one went against the Admirals as it was pretty clear that the Milwaukee player hit DiVincentiis before the puck went into the net.
The Admirals would eventually get on the board as they scored their fourth power play goal in five attempts (3/4 last game) to open the scoring.
The Moose had some good looks on their second power play of the game including AJF hitting iron trying to tie the game.
Manitoba tied the game up in strange fashion as Henri Nikkanen somehow got this puck and fired it into the empty net from a sharp angle.
Credit where credit was due as Admirals goalie Magnus Chrona was very good in this contest. Here he denies Brad Lambert with a glorious chance on the power play.
With the Moose does by a goal in the middle frame they thought they had tied it when Parker Ford redirected an Ashton Sautner shot but it was ruled interference as the Admirals defender was pushed into Chrona.
Manitoba was unable to solve the Admirals netminder again while Milwaukee deposited two more pucks into an empty net to make it a 4-1 game for the visitors.
The story of the weekend was the powerless Moose power play which went 0/6 (although the last one was only 37 seconds long) this evening and was 0/10 in the two game se against the Admirals.
Moose fall to 3-5-0-0 while the Admirals improve to 8-1-0-0 which as I indicated in yesterday’s recap
Multi-point game:
None
