Note:  It wasn’t the busiest Trade Deadline Day and the Jets streak of no moves on the final day of trading has now reached four consecutive years but that doesn’t mean all was quiet on the western front.  We heard from GM Kevin Cheveldayoff as well as Coach Paul Maurice.

Note II:  Now that we know what the Jets roster will look like for the remainder of the season it is time to turn our focus back to actual games.  Tonight the first place in the Atlantic Division Panthers are in town to take on the Jets with puck drop at 7 pm.  Be sure to check us out throughout the day for latest game day news. Note III:  The Moose have a morning practice at the IcePlex followed by a 2 pm Stick to Reading program which is presented by McNally Robinson Booksellers.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Cap flexibility will be critical for the Jets.  (Paywall).  We shall have to wait and see what the Jets GM does with this flexibility in the future.

Winnipeg Free Press:  No moves by Jets GM no surprise.  (Paywall).  While fans may have expected a minor move or two it really doesn’t come as a big surprise that the Jets GM didn’t make any deals on Monday.

Winnipeg Sun:  The buck stops with Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.  Short term pain for long term gain.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets counting on the core.  They didn’t sell off all the available pieces.  Can the team add a few more in the summer and get back into the playoffs next season?  Sounds like that is the plan.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets quiet on deadline day, Pardy claimed by Oilers.  It was one of the quieter deadline days that I can recall.

CBC:  Jets hit the ice with young players from Manitoba First Nations.  Three players from the Jets took a team of youngsters from two Manitoba First Nations through a few drills in Winnipeg Monday.

CBC:  Premium seats at MTS Centre block view for Winnipeg fans in wheelchairs.  A season ticket holder is frustrated by lack of response from True North on obstructed view of ice.

Globalnews.ca:  Perreault misses Winnipeg Jets practice to ‘coach’.  Coach Maurice indicated that the Jets winger was busy welcoming a new member to the Jets family.

Sportsnet:  Jets prospects bring scoring touch.  (Video).  Sam Cosentino looks at some of the key Jets prospects and where they are in their development.

TSN:  Jets learn to cope without captain.  Paul brings us his insight into what it was like when the reality of the trade set in for the team.  Also spoke about the captain situation, Jets February travel and a few other notes.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Hustler and Lawless.  GM Kevin Cheveldayoff spoke with the guys after the trade deadline to discuss his negotiations, including trading Andrew Ladd. Cheveldayoff says it was apparent early that teams weren’t willing to include a first-round pick in trade talks, and explains what he learned after last season’s brief playoff run.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Rona Roundtable.  Adam Pardy discussed his time in Winnipeg and being claimed on waivers by Edmonton with Rick Ralph and Richard Pollock.
