Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets and Moose news.

Note:  Jets play their first game tonight of six straight home games at the MTS Centre over the next 20 days.  The Avalanche are in town tonight as Winnipeg looks to close the gap in between these two teams with Colorado holding a two point lead.  As always stay tuned to illegalcurve.com and our social media including Twitter| Facebook | Instagram for pre and post game news.

Note II:  The Moose lost to the Checkers last night 4-1 and will spend today traveling to California where they will play six games starting Wednesday night against the Ontario Reign.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Working Man.  He works hard each and every night and has quickly become an integral member of this team.

Perreault heads up ice

Winnipeg Free Press:  Scheifele, Stafford, Lowry expected to be out of the lineup.  (Paywall). Gonna need to have some guys step up as the Jets will be seriously shorthanded.

Winnipeg Sun:  Hellebuyck has nobody pining for Pavelec’s return.  Feels like déjà vu from last season when Hutchinson replaced Pavelec.  Of course Hutchinson doesn’t have the same pedigree as Hellebuyck.  Paul writes about the level of work that Hellebuyck put (and puts) into his development as a goalie.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets likely shorthanded again.  Tongues started wagging the moment Scheifele, Stafford and Lowry didn’t appear for the morning skate on Sunday.

CBC:  5 Things to Watch.  Includes 1) Putting the puck in the net 2) Hellebuyck, our hero 3) Ladd feeling lucky 4) Byfuglien and 5) Barrie’d.

Illegal Curve:  Jets Practice Report.  Taking a look at the news from the MTS Centre during Sunday practice, as well as the lines and audio from the room including Hellebuyck, Perreault and Pardy.

Jets audio:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice.  Update on the missing players (Scheifele, Stafford, Lowry).  Thoughts on what Pardy brought.  He sounded like he expected Lowry/Stafford would play in St. Paul, so what happened that they aren’t players yet?  What would the perfect home game look like with six games here?  Does the team have to “open it up” at home?  On the types of players they would call up from the Moose.  On the value of Mathieu Perreault.

Moose news:

Charlotte Observer:  Charlotte Checkers clinch weekend sweep of Manitoba.  It wasn’t a good conclusion to the start if the two week road trip for the Moose.  Read about the guy from the opposition paper.
