Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The Jets appear to have turned things around with their second win in a row last night over the Arizona Coyotes.   The team will hit the ice at noon for a practice as they get ready to close out the home stand Monday night against the Colorado Avalanche.

Note II:  In AHL action the Manitoba Moose face off against the Bakersfield Condors this afternoon as they look to gain a split in their weekend series.  Game time is 2 pm at the MTS Centre.

Note III:  Be sure to check out our Instagram account.  We have a ton of pictures from last night’s 3-2 Jets win.  Click here.

Jets news:

New York Post:  Brooks Sunday Column.  Half way down the page you can read the Hamonic/Jets talk.  The interesting comment is “Byfuglien is not staying in Winnipeg”.  While I’m not sure I agree with that sentiment Larry Brooks suggests as much in his column.

Ottawa Sun:  Garrioch’s Sunday Column.  Begins with Hamonic trade info which should be interesting for Jets fans considering Winnipeg is one possible destination.  In his Rumours Du Jour section he talks about the Jets shopping Enstrom and also about signing Byfuglien.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Thorburn’s game-winning dangle for the Jets his best yet. (Paywall).  He is not the most prolific scorer on the team but Chris Thorburn sure seems to score some nice ones for the Jets.  Last night’s game winning goal blew the roof off the MTS Centre.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets are frequent fliers to sin bin. (Paywall).  Perhaps all the penalty minutes are the secret to the Jets success.  They sure seem to like mixing it up although that story may have been different had the Coyotes won the game after Winnipeg gave up two 1st period power play goals.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets edge Coyotes 3-2.  Ken breaks down the Jets win over Arizona.

Sportsnet:  Ondrej Pavelec leaves game after collision with Shane Doan.  Mixed reaction as to whether it was a push by Mark Stuart or whether Shane Doan went into Pavelec rather easily.  Regardless of blame the Jets played the 3rd period with Michael Hutchinson between the pipes.  We should have a better idea today as to the status of Pavelec.

Sportsnet:  Thorburn post-game on game winner (video).  Following the game the 1st star of last night’s hockey game chats with Sean Reynolds.

Sportsnet:  Saturday Headlines.  (Video).  Starts with Hamonic talk (Winnipeg mentioned).

CBC:  Odds and ends from the Jets’ win over the Coyotes.  Starts with some Hamonic talk, status of Pavelec, Jets being most penalized team and Doan tying a rare record against Winnipeg.

MyToba:  Thorburn’s hustle gives Jets a win over Coyotes.  His reaction post goal said it all.
