Last night in the 1st period of the Jets game against the Bruins Alexander Burmistrov was assessed a two minute minor penalty for an illegal check to the head which he delivered to the Bruins Patrice Bergeron, who has a history of concussions.
In case you missed the play here it is:
While there was some speculation that Burmistrov could be hearing from the Department of Player Safety over the hit Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports tweeted:
No hearing / suspension for #jets Alexander Burmistrov after elbowing #bruins Patrice Bergeron last night. #tvasports — Renaud Lavoie (@renlavoietva) October 9, 2015
But we also learned this morning from Joe Haggerty of CSN New England that:
Per source, Alex Burmistrov was given warning by @NHLPlayerSafety, but illegal hit on PB37 didn’t rise to level of supplemental discipline

Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun got this reaction from Alexander Burmistrov this morning:
#NHLJets F Alex Burmistrov said he was sorry for his high check on Patrice Bergeron when he spoke with the media today. “That was my bad.”

#NHLJets Burmistrov: “I’m not that kind of player. I hit him in the head, it’s a good thing nothing happened with him (in terms of injury).”
— Ken Wiebe (@WiebeSunSports) October 9, 2015
#NHLJets Burmistrov (3/3): “I was going to hit him in the shoulder and it looked like he tried to get out of the way. I’m sorry.”

What do you think? Should he have received supplemental discipline or was the two minute penalty sufficient?
