Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Rookies gotta take the next step.  Coach Maurice was pretty clear that these young guns will have to adapt to learning and playing the Jets style of play.  Which prospect is most likely to accomplish this?

Winnipeg Free Press:  Austrian Raffl giving NHL a shot with Jets.  He was one of the most intriguing names on the list of players who would be attending training camp this season.  Sounds like he is willing to do whatever it takes to make his dream of playing in the NHL a reality.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Contract fate for Ladd, Byfuglien still up in the air.  Neither player sounded particularly stressed over the lack of contract progress when speaking with the media.

Winnipeg Free Press:  The mad science of Paul Maurice.  The Jets bench boss has plenty of options so he was tinkering with his troops on the first day of camp.

Winnipeg Sun:  Little keeping open mind about move to wing.  I really don’t expect the Jets #1 centre to be playing anything other than centre this season but it doesn’t hurt to have other options ready to go if you are ever hampered by injury.  Ken also touches on Thomas Raffl, Maurice talks Bull Durham, Clitsome likely done and around the glass.

Winnipeg Sun:  Byfuglien ‘just comes to work’.  Most fans across this province love what big #33 brings to the table and many were happy to hear his comments on day 1 of training camp.

National Post:  Paul Maurice shuffling his lineup early at Winnipeg Jets training camp.  When you have 55 players in camp it is hard to read too much into these early moves.

Global News:  Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien want to remain with Jets.  Have to believe that both players would have liked to have their contract situations resolved so as not to have to discuss the lack of news on day 1 of training camp although both handled the questions from the press.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Hustler and Lawless.  Gary Lawless discusses the early storylines from Winnipeg Jets training camp. Lawless shares what he knows of the Dustin Byfuglien contract negotiations, and how head coach Paul Maurice plans on using Adam Lowry.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Rona Roundtable.  TSN Hockey Analyst Dave Poulin discusses Bryan Little’s move to wing and the number of young players in the Jets organization who are fighting for roster spots with the big club.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Rona Roundtable.  Play-by-play voice Dennis Beyak joins Rick Ralph live from Winnipeg Jets training camp.

Day 1 of Training Camp audio:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice.  First impressions.  Grant Clitsome news and other injury news.  Will Clitsome be around the team?  Decision to move Little to the wing with Lowry as centre.  Will other guys be making the centre to wing move?  Looking at the bottom 6, what do they need to do to stick out?  What does he see from Thomas Raffl?  How did they find Raffl?  Any concern with the contract situation of Ladd and Byfuglien?  Is there more of an opportunity for younger players this year?

Illegal Curve:  Group 2.  Dustin Byfuglien and Nikolaj Ehlers.

Illegal Curve:  Group 1.  Andrew Ladd, Bryan Little, Adam Lowry, Thomas Raffl, Andrew Copp and Brendan Lemieux.
