Jets Head Coach Paul Maurice just advised the media in his scrum that #33 will be missing 2-4 weeks. Dustin Byfuglien had left the game against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday in the 2nd period and did not return for the 3rd. He has played in all 65 games for the Jets this season amassing 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points in a hybrid forward/defence role.
The team was off yesterday so no information was available on the status of the Jets big man. Byfuglien will join his former defence partner Ben Chiarot up in the press box.
Right now the Jets have the following defence pairings available:
Enstrom-Myers
Stuart-Trouba
Harrison-Pardy
Paul Postma has been the extra defenceman for the most part and hasn’t played a game since January 8th, 2015.
The Jets can ill afford to be without Byfuglien for a substantial period of time and it will be interesting to see how the team responds to his absence.
