What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:
- Ondrej Pavelec wasn’t at practice this morning for Atlanta. Mike Knobler seems to wonder if he may soon be sent down to the AHL.
- Just when you thought he was healthy, Marco Sturm will miss tomorrow night’s game for Boston with a lower-body injury. Possibly his knee.
- The Hurricanes have sent Brett Carson back to the AHL. He played admirably but the team is finally getting healthy on defense.
- Columbus center Derick Brassard left last night’s game with a shoulder injury. Looks like he may miss some time.
- Dave Staples completely disagrees with Damien Cox calling Ales Hemsky’s contract “less than visionary.” I agree with everything Staples says about that point.
- Marian Gaborik feels some “discomfort” in Minnesota. Wow. Just one game until he’s sore again? Russo brings out all the factors at play for the Wild in this piece.
- Here are the Habs lines from practice today. Andrei Kostitsyn not at practice.
- Martin Brodeur could return to Devils line-up in under two months. Devils are going to be one dangerous team come playoff time.
- Jason Spezza better play well otherwise he’ll find himself in the press box. Give Hartsburg points for trying everything with this group.
- The Bolts have waived Jussi Jokinen. Another week, another roster move.
- Alexander Semin appears doubtful for tomorrow’s game for Washington. No word on the injury, although reading between the lines leads me to believe it isn’t serious which is good news.
