-BEAST of the night Cory Stillman scored a natural hat-trick and Eric Staal put up three points as the Hurricanes beat up on the Capitals 5 – 0. Cam Ward recorded 35 saves for the shutout, it was his first of the season.
-There was another 5 – 0 game on tonights schedule, the Penguins took down the Devils. Pittsburgh snapped a two game losing streak and Dany Sabourin made 20 saves for his first career shutout. New Jersey coach Brent Sutter felt that his teams commitment in the game was “unacceptable”. After Sidney Crosby scored the fifth goal you could see on Sutter’s face that he is not impressed.
-“The King” Henrik Lundvquist continues to play out of this world, stopping 30 shots and earning his 4th shutout of the season. The Rangers defeat the Flyers 2 – 0. Brendan Shanhan iced the game for the Rangers scoring on the PP with 3 minutes to go. Jaromir Jagr had two points for the Rangers and Marty Biron stopped 43 of 45 in the loss.
-David Booth scores with 1:19 remaining to give the Panthers the 4 – 3 win over the Lightning. Tampa Bay continues to be winless on the road. Olli Jokinen had three points for Florida.
-Christobal Huet stopped 29 shots to lead the Habs to a 2 – 0 victory over the Sabres. The Canadiens have now won 6 of their past 8 (6-1-1).
-Minnesota scored three in the first period and didn’t look back. The Wild win 5 – 2 over the Oilers. Mikko Koivu had 3 assists for Minnesota, Mark Parrish scored two goals and P.M. Bouchard had a goal and an assist. Edmonton remains at the bottom of the league standings with only 10 points in 15 games.
-Wojtek Wolski and Milan Hejduk had three points each to carry the Avalanche to a 4 – 1 win over the Flames. Colorado has owned Calgary as of late, it was their seventh straight win versus the Flames, extending back to last season.
-In the third 5 – 0 game of the night the Dallas Stars are victorious against the Anaheim Ducks. Mike Ribeiro, Sergei Zubov, and Jere Lehtinen had three points each for the Stars. Marty Turco stopped 19 of 19 to earn his 31st career shutout.
