Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Winnipeg Free Press:  A place to believe in, or place to be leavin.  As with the logo controversy, we often hear those who yell loudest, despite the fact that they are in the minority, and in this instance McCown seems to be on the wrong side of this issue.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets facilitating ticket resale.  While this is a safer method, the only question is how many people with tickets to sell will use it.

Jets Nation:  Dustin Byfuglien – a closer look.  Taking a look at one of the Jets big X factors on defence.

Calgary Sun:  Jets gear flying off store shelves.  I’ve seen and heard a ton of people who were shut out of buying Jets gear as they weren’t in Winnipeg, but now that its becoming available across the country, expect ex-Peggers’ to be buying tons of merchandise.  And if you haven’t checked River City Sports in Winnipeg lately, they have a TON of new Jets products available.

Winnipeg Sun:  Are Jets Canada’s team?  Have to think the good will that the rest of Canada threw Winnipeg’s way will last awhile, especially given the fact that the team might not make the playoffs next season.  Expect the hate to return once the Jets improve and start knocking off the team’s in other Cdn cities.

Around the NHL:

USA Today:  An early peek at the top 2012 free agents.  Either of those Red Wings defencemen would be an excellent addition to any team.

Windsor Star:  Canada to face Sweden in finals.  Today’s final of the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament might see Canada win it’s fourth straight tourny.

New York Post:  Brooklyn’s NHL curse.  Perhaps the Rangers are cursed for holding Brooklyn down?  In their first 14 years they won 3 Stanley Cups (28′, 33′ and 40′).  Since 1940 (approx 71 years) they’ve only won 1 Stanley Cup (94′).

Yahoo Sports:  Wayne Gretzky negotiated son’s Trevor deal with Cubs.  Is Wayne G moving from coach to agent?
