Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Flint Journal:  Lapeer native Jim Slater adjusting to move from Atlanta to Winnipeg.  Sounds like he is no longer feeling any ill effects from the hit by teammate Dustin Byfuglien from last season.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets logo incites anti-war zealots.  People will try just about anything to get attention.  Does this logo incite you?  It certainly doesn’t have that type of impact on me.

Brandon Sun (Registration Required):  Wheat City fans eager to buy Jets garb.  There is something to be said knowing you are one of a few people wearing the new Jets logo in your city.

Toronto Star:  Many ‘big name’ players facing pay cuts or league exit.  Another mention of the 26 year old Zherdev’s desire to play in the Peg’.  Perhaps the Jets can follow the model set by Toronto Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos when he brings a “problem” player into the organization.  Sits him down, has 1 conversation about the past and then its a clean slate.

Around the NHL:

Columbus Dispatch:  Jackets’ Carter shouldn’t be judged on rumours.  As I said about Richards yesterday, doesn’t really matter if the rumours are true or false.  These guys are getting a fresh start.

Edmonton Journal:  Oilers’ Khabibulin headed to Arizona jail.  Good for him for taking responsibility.

Chicago Tribune:  Veteran goalie Emery to get tryout with Blackhawks.  While the league doesn’t have many available top 6 forwards, there seem to be a glut of veteran goalies that were looking for work.
