Atlantic Division
- The Devils are about to begin an important homestand which will see the team play ten of its next twelve games at home.
- For all the John Tavares hype, it was Dwayne Roloson who absolutely stole the show and the two points for the Islanders last night. Ironically enough, Rick DiPietro returns to practice today.
- John Tortorella’s timeout seemed to work wonders for his team, as the Blueshirts stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to win 7-4 over Columbus. In injury news, Chris Drury has been deemed fit to play by the Rangers’ training staff.
- After a talking to from coach John Stevens, the Flyers came out firing in the third period at Colorado but it was too little too late. Claude Giroux was having trouble breathing in the thin air. Frank Seravalli had a chance to catch up with the Carle brothers.
- For the second time this season, the Penguins came back from 2-0 down to defeat the Panthers. Injured winger Tyler Kennedy appears to be nearing a return.
Northeast Division
- Marc Savard didn’t have his best game last night in his return to the Boston lineup, but his presence sure made a difference. Savard’s presence opened up some space for Patrice Bergeron, as the center posted a four assist game. Byron Bitz continues to come into his own for the Bruins.
- It is rather surprising that the talented Sabres are one of the lowest goal scoring teams in the NHL this season.
- Long time Montreal Gazette writer Pat Hickey gives some background on the acquisition of Benoit Pouliot by the Habs. In other news, Georges Laraque was suspended for five games for his hit on Niklas Kronwall.
- The Senators’ lowest crowd of the season missed out on an impressive Ottawa comeback on Monday. With another marker, Mike Fisher now has ten goals on the season. The Senators’ fourth line was tremendous.
- The Leafs directed more than 100 shots towards Dwayne Roloson last night but to no avail, as the team lost 4-3 in overtime. In bad news, the Leafs look to have lost John Mitchell for a while with a knee injury. What does Matt Stajan think about trade rumors? The Islanders are now ten points in front of the Leafs in the standings.
Southeast Division

- The Hurricanes took too many penalties and had a goal disallowed, as they lost 2-0 at Dallas.
- The Panthers lost a heartbreaker last night to the defending Cup champions, writes Steve Gorten. David Booth can hardly watch television because of his concussion.
- After early season struggles Bolts netminder Mike Smith is regaining his confidence. With Mattias Ohlund sidelined, Andrej Meszaros has improved his play.
- That is three losses in a row now for Washington, after the Caps blew a 3-1 lead at Ottawa, explains Corey Masisak.
