Manitoba Moose remain perfect at home (5-0-0-0) with 2-1 OT win over Toronto Marlies

Recap of the game.

The Moose and Marlies do battle for the first time this season as Manitoba plays their first out of division game. The home team and visitors have similar records, similar goals for and against as well as power plays. So it set itself up as a pretty good hockey game.

Lineup news:

No Noah Gregor as he got nicked up on Wednesday at skate and left midway through it. He wasn’t on the ice this morning at the optional and wasn’t in the lineup this evening when warm-up began. As well Ashton Sautner, Dysin Mayo and Tyson Empey were IR skating today.

Moose lineup:

Wahlin – Lambert – Chibrikov
Wagner – Zhilkin – Ford
He – Julien – Barlow
Burnside – Yoder – Duehr

Phillips – Freij
Thrun – Barteaux
Gustafsson – Matier

DiVincentiis

Notable:

Walker Duehr might not have had an easier first goal of the season as he intercepts this pass and makes no mistake upstairs to make it 1-0 for the home team.

Despite the teams possessing Top 10 and in the case of Toronto a Top 5 power play neither team could find the back of the net with the extra attacker. Especially interesting given the Moose had the 15th ranked PK coming into the game and the Marlies were ranked 25th.

Another chance early in the 3rd for Duehr who got a penalty shot opportunity but no dice.

Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis with a stop late in this game to keep it tied. It was one of his 23 saves he made in the game.

And the South Dakota product wasn’t done there, scoring his second goal of the game on a fantastic feed by Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin to win it in extra time.

With the win the Moose improve to a perfect 5-0-0-0 at home and 9-4-0-0 on the season which puts them 2nd in the Central but 3rd overall in the entire AHL.
