Game 15: Winnipeg Jets vs Carolina Hurricanes pre-game report

A look at the projected lineups and latest updates ahead of puck drop.

The joy is definitely gone from Joyland as the Jets’ losing streak reached eight games following their latest defeat to the Panthers in Florida on Friday night. Winnipeg had Saturday off from the rink, a chance to reset and regroup before facing another monumental test against the Hurricanes this afternoon in Raleigh.

After starting the season 4-1-2, the Jets’ 3-2 regulation loss to the Hurricanes on October 17th marked the beginning of a stretch that has seen Winnipeg lose six of seven games in regulation. Special teams have also fallen off a cliff, with both the power play and penalty kill becoming liabilities that are costing Winnipeg on a nightly basis..

Carolina, meanwhile, is coming off a 3-2 win over Columbus on Thursday, its third straight victory. The Hurricanes sit atop the NHL standings with an impressive 11-2-2 record, having suffered just one regulation loss at home and one on the road. For a struggling Winnipeg squad, this is its toughest test yet.

Odds:

The Jets face another difficult test against a Hurricanes squad that thrives on aggressive forechecking and sustained offensive-zone pressure. With Winnipeg riding an eight-game losing streak (0-6-2), the challenge will be managing Carolina’s relentless attack while finding opportunities to generate offence of their own. The Jets will need a more complete effort to avoid a third straight loss on this road trip and ninth one overall. For the latest Winnipeg Jets hockey odds, visit NHL betting site Betway.
