Notable:
Neal Pionk played in his 600th NHL game.
It was the first time in some time we saw the Jets split up Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor as the usual duo started the game on different lines with the hope that they could help spread the offence.
For the ninth time in 13 games this season the Jets gave up the first goal of the game. Not a good trend if you want to win hockey games.
That 2nd period might have been one of the worst I’ve seen this team play. Mental mistakes that they could ill afford to make happened and it resulted in a 1-1 game after 20 minutes becoming a 5-1 deficit after 40 minutes.
Nico Daws unexpectedly made his Jets debut to start the 3rd as Skinner got the mercy pull.
Dylan Samberg looking like a 40-goal scorer as he redirects that pass by Cole Perfetti. That’s the chemistry of former roommates.
In first 11 games of the season the Jets had three goals from their D as per Dan Robertson on the broadcast. Suddenly they were up to three from them tonight in Tampa Bay. And had the Mario Ferraro goal stood that would have been four.
Kyle Connor make it a 5-4 game as he does what only he can do rifling home his 10th goal of the season to help this improbable comeback. However, it would fall short as a disconnected 6 on 4 by Winnipeg didn’t really stress out Tampa Bay who took the puck from their end and deposited it into the back of the Jets goal to make it a 6-4 hockey game.
That’s how it would end which means the Jets losing streak hits seven (0-5-2) games.
