Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | October 29, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage and all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Jets used Wednesday as a travel day to kick off a very difficult road trip against the Lightning, Panthers, Hurricanes and Canadiens starting with Tampa Bay. It won’t be easy as they look to break their six-game losing streak against a team that hasn’t yet lost at home (5-0-0). Morning skate for Winnipeg gets underway at 10:30 AM CT and it will be fascinating to see if there are any seismic changes to the lines. Stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 6 PM CT.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Tampa Bay, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CT.

Note III: The Moose were in action last night taking on the Admirals in Milwaukee. Manitoba suffered its second straight defeat for the first time this season, falling 3-0 in what was also their first shutout loss of the year. Special teams continued to be an issue as the power play went 0-for-7, leaving plenty to be desired offensively. They will travel today to Rockford where they will wrap up this six-game road trip tomorrow night against the IceHogs.

Note IV: As you’ll note from the above notes, the Jets and Moose happened to be in the two cities represented in Game 5 of the World Series last night, with Milwaukee defeating Tampa Bay to capture the Brewers’ first-ever championship.

Note V: Jets goalie prospect Samuel Hrenák (2026 3rd) made 42 saves on 43 shots for Fargo the other night, improving to 8-2-0 with his sixth straight win for the Force. He’s sporting an impressive 1.82 GAA and .944 save percentage. Meanwhile, forward Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) scored his fifth goal of the season for Saginaw, giving him 11 points (5G 6A) in 12 games. He was set up by Dima Zhilkin, the brother of Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin, who is currently tied for the OHL scoring lead.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Shake-up needed for Jets to get out of first gear. Mike examines five potential changes the organization could make to turn things around before the season spirals further out of control including: 1) Split up Scheifele and Connor. 2) Give Bjorck a breather. 3) Raid the farm. 4) Sign a free agent and 5) New bench boss.
