Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | October 28, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage and all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The joy is gone in Joyland, as former Jets bench boss Claude Noel would opine when his club was struggling. Following last night’s 5-1 loss to the Panthers, Winnipeg has now dropped six straight games (0-4-2) and there isn’t much positivity around these parts. About the only encouraging news is that Josh Morrissey will accompany the team on its upcoming road trip, although with limited practice time, he may not be available until the final stop in Montreal next Tuesday. For now, the Jets will depart Winnipeg today for sunny Tampa Bay, where they’ll kick off their four-game road trip tomorrow night against the Lightning.

Note II: The Moose were also in action on Tuesday and, for the first time this season, suffered a rather lopsided defeat. Manitoba entered the contest having beaten Chicago three times already this season, but yesterday morning in Rosemont, Illinois, they encountered a different Wolves team. Every time the Moose managed to close the gap, Chicago restored its two-goal cushion before pulling away in the final frame. Making matters worse, Manitoba failed to register a single shot on goal in the third period as the Wolves cruised to a 6-3 victory. There’s no time to dwell on the loss as the Moose are back at it tonight in Milwaukee against the Admirals. It’s their first meeting since the opening round of last season’s Calder Cup playoffs, when Manitoba knocked off Milwaukee. Puck drop is at 7 PM CT.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets overpowered by Panthers for sixth straight loss. (Paywall). The scoring woes continue to haunt this team. Is it time for the coach to finally hit the button to separate 55 and 81 simply because they are the only two drivers and perhaps each guy can help drive a line.

Winnipeg Free Press: Former Jets coach talks alumni game, American exodus. (Paywall). One thing the former Jets bench boss appreciates is an opportunity to wax poetic. In this instance he continues to sing the praise of the former place he called home.

NHL.com: Tkachuks combine for seven points, Panthers hand Jets sixth straight loss. We had George Richards of Florida Hockey Now on yesterday’s Daily Dose of Illegal Curve Hockey and he spoke about the connected hockey the brothers are playing. Boy was it on display last night (especially on Brady’s goal).

Global News: Panthers power past Jets as losing streak extends to six games. Giving up three goals in such short succession basically put this game on ice. And giving up three goals against on the power play.

TSN: Tkachuk brothers combine for seven points as Jets’ losing skid reaches six games. Dan Robertson and Landon Ferraro discusss what went wrong for the Jets in their 5-1 loss to the Panthers Tuesday night, and how the Tkachuk brothers caused problems for Winnipeg all game.
