Notable:
Just before puck drop Elliotte Friedman dropped a news bomb that Connor Hellebuyck suspension comes to an end on Friday.
Puck drop today was in support of the Toba Centre which was done by the organization’s pups. Big cheers/laughs from the Winnipeg crowd. It’s a very worthwhile cause so check it out here.
After a fairly low-event 1st period things picked up in the 2nd. Mark Scheifele opened the scoring with a bit of an assist from former teammate Nikolaj Ehlers which means he’s now five back of catching Dale Hawerchuk on the All-Time goals list in Winnipeg NHL history.
Alex Iafallo gave the Jets the lead again in the middle frame with his third goal of the season. Assist to Adam Lowry which seems appropriate given it’s the Toba Centre game. The adventures of Pyotr Kochetkov continue in the Canes net.
Carolina tied the game late in the middle frame and they should add an assist on the Koktaniemi goal for either of the Jets D who abandoned the front of the net.
And then the visitors took advantage of a bad penalty by Dylan DeMelo to put the Hurricanes on the power play. Who else would give his new team the lead but Nikolaj Ehlers who made it 3-2 with his first ever goal against Winnipeg. He’s now scored against all the NHL teams.
