The Moose and Wolves meet for the third time in four games to open the season, with Manitoba looking to bounce back after suffering its first loss of the campaign, a 2-1 setback in Grand Rapids on Friday. The Moose won the first two meetings with Chicago by a combined 11-3 and will look to continue that success on the road.
Lineup news:
The AHL club of Manitoba has been remarkably consistent in a league that often isn’t that way using the exact same four lines and D pairs for the fourth straight game. The only change is Thomas Milic got the net.
Moose lineup:
Wahlin – Yager – Chibrikov
Gregor – Zhilkin – Ford
He – Julien – Barlow
Empey – Yoder – Burnside
Phillips – Freij
Sautner – Mayo
Gustafsson – Thrun
Milic
DiVincentiis
Notable:
Noah Gregor has been a great addition to the Moose. He scored his fourth goal in his fourth game in antlers which gave Manitoba a 1-0 lead. Great stretch pass by Jets prospect Alfons Freij to start things off. Isaak Phillips with a strong attack.
Jets prospect Jacob Julien got his first of the season with a nice tip using his big frame to get to the front of the net. He gave the Moose a 2-0 lead. Would turn out to be the game-winning goal which was the first of his pro career.
Jets prospect Kevin He with quite the start to his pro career as he scored his third goal in his fourth game which gave the Moose a 3-0 lead in the 1st on a 5 on 3. Play created by Danny Zhilkin who used his speed to set it up. Alfons Freij picks up his first AHL assist.
Moose goalie Thomas Milic is becoming a bit of a Wolves killer as he made 21 saves on 22 shots including this one backstopping Manitoba to his second victory over Chicago this season.
Even the Moose 4th line got in on the act as Davis Burnside made a few nice moves before feeding Tyson Empey who gets robbed.
The Moose looked dangerous in all facets of the game including shorthanded as Parker Ford gets his first of the season to put the visitors up 4-1 in the 3rd.
Jets prospect Brayden Yager drove the net on the PP before Nikita Chibrikov puts home the loose puck. That was his first of the season to make it a 5-1 hockey game for the visitors.
Another player getting his first of the season as Chase Yoder redirected the Davis Burnside shot to make it a 6–1 lead for the Moose.
The Moose improved to 3-1-0 as they defeat the Wolves for the third time this season. After 4 games they have 18 goals for and just six against. Really balanced lines, solid D pairs and excellent goaltending to start the 2026-27 season.
