The Moose got their season off to a terrific start with back-to-back wins on home ice, outscoring their opponents 11-3 to open the 2026-27 campaign with a 2-0-0 record. Now Manitoba hits the road for a pair of games, beginning in Grand Rapids with a playoff rematch against the Griffins.
Lineup news:
Only change was Domenic DiVincentiis getting the net back from Thomas Milic after the pair split the home opener weekend set.
Moose lineup:
Wahlin – Yager – Chibrikov
Gregor – Zhilkin – Ford
He – Julien – Barlow
Empey – Yoder – Burnside
Phillips – Freij
Sautner – Mayo
Gustafsson – Thrun
DiVincentiis
Milic
Notable:
Without Tyrel Bauer in the lineup, the bulk of the fighting this season will likely be done by Tyson Empey who dropped the gloves with Cameron Butler in the middle frame.
Just like he did in the playoffs to Manitoba, Grand Rapids goalie Michal Postava was excellent in this hockey game making a lot of incredible stops. The Moose were outshot 13-9 in the 1st period but then outshot the Griffins 28-20 over the last 40 minutes of the hockey game.
The visitors did get within one early(ish) in the 3rd period as Noah Gregor took the Parker Ford steal/pass to break the goose egg, to score a nice little goal. It was Gregor’s third goal of the season in game number three.
At the other end of the ice Domenic DiVincentiis was also very good making 31 saves on 33 shots including against a number of high-danger chances for the home team. He’s had an excellent start to the season stopping 67 saves on 69 shots for a .971 save% and a 1.01 GAA.
