The Jets rode a red-hot power play to their first win of the season, scoring three times with the man advantage before holding off a late Red Wings push for a 3-2 victory in Detroit. Kyle Connor scored twice, Cole Perfetti opened the scoring and Tyrel Bauer made his presence felt with his first NHL fight as Winnipeg improved to 1-0-1.

Notable:
Viggo Björck came oh so close to his first NHL goal in the 1st period as he rang it off the post off a backhand shot. Kid is slick.
One thing most folks don’t know about Tyrel Bauer is he can punch equally hard with his left or right hand. They do now.
As Winnipeg got a power play out of that scrap, the red-hot PP went to work and Cole Perfetti got a rather unusual deflection goal to open the scoring in the hockey game.
Another PP and we saw the highlight of the afternoon as Michigan Man scores a goal in Michigan. 17 points in 17 games against his home state team for Kyle Connor who is on pace for 84 goals this season. With this goal Connor moved past Thomas Steen into sole possession of 5th on the All-Time power play goals list.
The power play continued to click in the middle frame as Connor got his second goal of the game with the man-advantage. Crazy stat brought up on the broadcast by play-by-play voice Dan Robertson when he said 81 had five PPGs all of last season. He’s already got three this year.
The special teams continued to be a factor as the Wings got on the board with a PP goal of their own late in the 2nd with Dylan DeMelo in the box.
Vlad Namestnikov took two penalties in the first 40 minutes of the game. Not ideal for a guy who is on the edge.
Detroit was able to get within one in the first five minutes of the final frame.
And they put on a solid push but the Jets held on for the win to improve to 1-0-1 on the season.
