Note II: When we spoke with Jets 2026 third-round pick Samuel Hrenák at Development Camp, he was still weighing his options for the upcoming season after being selected by the Moose Jaw Warriors in the CHL Import Draft. The 6-foot-3 Slovak goalie subsequently decided to return to the Fargo Force of the USHL for the 2026-27 season. Fargo announced his decision in late July, which we missed at the time. Coincidentally, Hrenák confirmed the old news when I ran into him last night. He could be on the ice with some Jets players today at Hockey For All Centre.

Winnipeg Sun: Hellebuyck headache? Jets vets say not here. It is hardly surprising that his teammates continue to support him publicly, although it has to be awkward given that Hellebuyck’s desire to leave Winnipeg is rooted, at least in part, in his belief that the Jets are not positioned to win the Cup.

Once they address it with us, they will not have to discuss it again until the Jets go on the road and visiting media brings it up. For now, they can limit the distraction, but if this persists into the regular season, it is hard not to see it becoming one.
