Note: Former Jets goaltender Michael Hutchinson is beginning the next chapter of his hockey career. After recently announcing his retirement from pro hockey last month, Hutchinson has joined the MJHL’s Selkirk Steelers as their goaltending coach.

He and some of his colleagues went through them and evaluated each one.

The Athletic: NHL Prospect Tiers 2026-27: Scouts rank and project league’s top 145 young players. (Paywall). Only Jets eighth overall pick Viggo Björck was picked reasonably high placed in the third tier (All-Star) rank although you’ll like reading the comments some scouts had to say about him. They also had Elias Salomonsson listed in the fifth tier (Support which would mean a ‘strong no. 2 defenceman’). Both Brayden Yager and Kieron Walton were considered for that tier as well but ultimately left off the list.
