Video Description:
Boomer, Pinder and Rhett are joined by TSN’s Darren Dreger to discuss one of the biggest rumours making the rounds in Winnipeg: could the Jets actually trade Connor Hellebuyck? If it were to happen, it would represent a franchise-altering decision for an organization that has built around one of the NHL’s elite goaltenders for years. Dregs shares what he’s hearing about Hellebuyck’s future, why speculation continues to grow, and what factors could ultimately determine whether the Jets keep or move their star netminder. The guys also debate Winnipeg’s current position as a team caught between competing and retooling, what a Hellebuyck trade package could look like, and whether moving him would signal a much larger shift within the organization. Are the Jets heading toward a major crossroads, or is there still a path to keeping Connor Hellebuyck in Winnipeg long-term?
Cole’s Notes:
Dreger mentions that Winnipeg needs a 2C and a 4C which in my estimation all but confirms the intentions of Jonathan Toews when it comes to next season. He said “Winnipeg is willing to consider moving Connor Hellebuyck”. He added that GMKC is listening to teams that are calling and he confirmed that teams are indeed calling about 37. He also mentions that the Jets and RFA Cole Perfetti are talking but a deal is not close. Perhaps most notable is the fact that he mentions that GM Kevin Cheveldayoff is “in the early days of a contract extension”.
