Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Apr 27, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: There will be more playoff hockey in Winnipeg as the Moose won their first round series with the Admirals on Sunday by a final score of 2-1 in a battle that was fierce right to the end of regulation. The antipathy on display late in the game (and really all series long) turned to respect during the handshake line seconds later.

Note II: Manitoba advances to face Grand Rapids who finished the season as the top team in the Western Conference which sets up as a David vs. Goliath series. It gets underway next weekend in Winnipeg (full five-game schedule is here). We will have this series covered top to bottom so be sure to keep it locked here. The Moose are off today.

Note III: Perhaps you have a Jets or Moose related question. If you do Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press are accepting questions today for this month’s mailbag. Please send them a DM via social media  to submit one to them.

Jets/Moose news:

Winnipeg Sun: Dom DiVicentiis delivers as Moose advance in AHL playoffs. He was sensational in the victory and did not look like a second-year pro playing his first couple of pro playoff games.

Winnipeg Free Press: DiVincentiis steps up in Moose playoff victories. (Paywall). Pretty tidy two game total stopping 48 of the 50 shots he faced in games two and three.

Winnipeg Free Press: Moose beat Admirals, move on to second round. (Paywall). Mike breaks down the game with this recap.

Kelowna Capital News: ‘Proud to be a Vee’: NHL star Scheifele excited to watch Penticton in WHL playoffs. Funny that Scheifele, who played in the OHL is a part owner of a club in the WHL. Nice first season in the Western League for the Vees.
